Remote controlled Caterpillar

remote caterpillarWith support from ProcessIT Innovations, among others, a group of researchers from Luleå Technical University led by Professor Kalevi Hyyppä has very successfully carried out a preliminary research project on remote control of loaders at the Ovako Smedjebacken steelworks. This technical solution means that in future drivers should be able to stay in the control room and control the loaders via joysticks and TV screens when they have to be used in the harsh environments in clinker pits.
