Contactless measurement of stock on harvesters

Currently, the forestry industry is looking at possibilities for using contact-free methods to measure stock diameters directly on the harvester.

They want to begin to evaluate various technologies that may be useful, and one of the candidates is airborne ultrasound.
The forestry industry organisation SkogForsk, plus machine manufacturer Komatsu Forest AB, and EISlab are behind the idea.
Test units constructed that are in daily operation.
